Glade Creek Canyon Hiking & Rafting
Hiking, swimming, jumping off a waterfall, and whitewater rafting may not be all that unique in and amongst themselves, but put them all together in a single day’s journey, and you’ve got one wild and wonderful day. We only take 14 people at a time on this trip, so you’ll always enjoy a small, intimate group. Hike an easy half mile to Glade Creek Falls to swim and lounge, eat a delicious riverside deli-lunch and then launch onto the New River to whitewater raft the rest of the day away. The best part? This trip is entirely family friendly – minimum age is 8.
Learn to Kayak
It’s one thing to test the river in a raft with a bunch of friends. It’s another entirely to hop into your own boat and float off…with a bunch of hands-on instruction, of course.
Whitewater kayaking is one of the fastest growing water sports. It’s challenging and exhilarating at the same time, and it tends to brings its participants to the heart of some of the worlds most beautiful places. In this class, you’ll learn the basics about the gear and how to use it, including what to do when the chips are down and you’re upside down.
Gauley River Deluxe Overnight
It’s only available six weekends out of the year during Fall Gauley Season, when flows on the Gauley River are guaranteed. If rafting the entire Gauley from Summersville Dam on down weren’t unique enough, there’s camping at Canyon Doors, which is hands down one of the most beautiful places on Earth. How about a wood-fired hot tub on the banks of the river? How about your own personal expedition chef handing you hors d’oeuvres and adult beverages in between meal courses?
Are you beginning to get the picture here? The Gauley River Deluxe Overnight is like a 5-star wilderness hotel experience sandwiched between two days of all-out adventure.
