Upper and Lower New River 2-Day Rafting

Spend 2 separate days on the world-famous, world-class New River on this exciting and climactic trip.

On the first day you’ll float leisurely through the scenic and historic Upper New River Gorge, where the rapids are long and wavy.  After exploring the resort and resting that night, you’ll spend the second day in the Lower New River Gorge on the river section that started the West Virginia whitewater craze.

You’ll encounter legendary rapids on this trip, like the Class IV “Keeney’s” and “Fayette Station” provide a booming climax to this action-packed 2-day thrill ride.

Minimum Age: 12

The New River defines the classic West Virginian whitewater rafting with placid pools and exciting drops. It is divided into sections that challenge both the beginner and advanced rafters.

The Lower New River offers one of the best whitewater rafting experiences in West Virginia . It is a large volume river with large shelf drops and boulders, creating the perfect combination of waves and hydraulics for a world class whitewater rafting experience.

On Class III – IV and harder trips, a guide sits in every raft and provides instruction at each major rapid and throughout the trip. On some trips like the Upper New and Summer Gauley, guests may be in their own inflatable kayaks (duckies). If that is the case, guides will be present to instruct, advise and assist.

Our standard rafts are 16 feet long, comfortably seating 8 guests and a guide.

Each day depending on the water level, you’ll spend between 4-6 hours on the water plus shuttle time to and from the river.

We provide transportation from our resort to the river and back again, all rafting equipment (helmet, life jacket, paddle and boat) and a sumptuous and filling riverside lunch. You will not go hungry!

Bring any medication you need throughout the day, plus sunscreen, sunglasses and a change of clothes to keep at the resort upon your return. Guides carry small waterproof bags to stow necessary medications. Depending on the time of year and the weather, you may also want a synthetic layer. If necessary, wetsuits and splash jackets are available for rent. Call us to book those, too.  What to Wear
