For those wanting the ultimate thrill, the Lower New Whitewater Rafting experience (ages 12 and up) will get your adrenaline pumping with more than 25 rapids from classes II – IV. Between the rapids and drops are pools of calm water and opportunities to jump from rocks or catch your breath and gather strength for the next challenge. This trip runs through the scenic New River Gorge and finishes up right below the New River Gorge Bridge.

For a more leisurely trek, the Upper New River has calmer whitewater floating sections filled with class I-II whitewater that allows for a fun, splash-filled rafting experience for kids as young as 6 years old. Kids 11 years of age and under raft free on the Upper New River with a paying adult.

Neatly tucked into the tall pine forest at Adventures on the Gorge, you’ll discover a new challenge for both mind and body: TreeTops Zipline Canopy Tour or TimberTrek Adventure Park. For a more relaxing way to cool off, head over to Canyon Falls Swimming Pool. With two swimming levels separated by a waterfall, a splash area for kids, and a Pool Snack Shack, there is no better way to end a hot summer day. The pool deck overhangs the rim of the center of the national park with breathtaking views the New River Gorge Bridge – the longest steel arch span in the Western Hemisphere and the third-highest bridge in the United States, spanning one mile from rim-to-rim.
