Overview
Let’s descend 120 feet below Earth’s surface and explore the Lost World Caverns! Discovered in 1942, this cave system is a vast wonderland of stalagmite and stalactite rock formations. You’ll follow an experienced guide while you crawl, climb, and make your way through the depths of the caverns’ chambers and pathways.
Wild Cave Tours are offered by our adventure partner, Lost World Caverns. You’ll start your tour in Lewisburg, West Virginia–a charming town located just over an hour from Adventures on the Gorge. After arrival, you’ll check in with our adventure partner, gear up, and get going. Be sure to wear long pants and long sleeves. This adventure is sure to get a little muddy!
Our adventure partner, Lost World Caverns, will provide expert safety instruction and all the necessary safety gear, including helmets, lights, gloves, and knee pads.
No special equipment is necessary besides long pants, long sleeves, and the required closed-toed shoes (preferably a sturdy pair of boots). The caverns stay damp and at a cool 55 degrees, so be sure to dress accordingly. You’re guaranteed to get dirty and wet as you crawl your way through, so we recommend bringing a change of clothes and a bag to put all of your muddy items in.
This adventure is located at Lost World Caverns in Lewisburg, West Virginia. This is about a 90-minute drive from Adventures on the Gorge, and you are responsible for your own transportation.
You’ll spend about four to six hours to complete the safety preparation and tour at Lost World Caverns. Expect about 90 minutes to drive each way between Adventures on the Gorge and Lost World Caverns (about three hours total).
The guides at Lost World Caverns will discuss all the necessary safety information and regulations on site.
