FAQ

Are there age or weight minimums for adventures?

Yes. Age minimums frequently change based on the specific trip. For example, four-year-olds can participate in TimberTrek Adventure Park. A trip on the Upper New River can be appropriate for ages six and up, but some rafting trips on the Gauley River require all participants to be at least 15. Weight minimums and maximums apply for aerial and climbing adventures. You can find the age and weight requirements on each adventure page, or contact an Adventure Specialist before you book. Adventurers under 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign their waiver.

Do you offer Adventure Packages?

Yes! We’ve put together a variety of Adventure Packages to help with planning and so you can make the most out of your trip. You can browse all Adventure Packages here.

Are all of the adventures guided?

All of our trips are guided trips, but that can look different based on the activity. For rafting on the Lower New or Gauley River, there is a guide in each boat. For an activity like paintball, your guide acts more as a referee and facilitator. For TimberTrek Adventure Park, there is a guide that will take you through Ground School, and multiple guides around the course are available to assist as needed.

What other amenities are at the resort?

Canyon Falls Pools is a two-tiered swimming pool right on the rim of America’s newest national park. Adventures on the Gorge also offers a 9-hole disc golf course free to play, a sand volleyball court, cornhole boards spread throughout campus, and on-site hiking trails.

Can you cater our family’s reunion meal or celebration meal?

We offer multiple options for group meals. Ask us for our banquet menu!

Should we make dining reservations in advance?

Most of the time our dining locations are open to walk-ins, but large groups may want to call ahead. We do require reservations for catering services if you plan to host a group or wedding reception.

Can we bring young children with us? Do you babysit?

Adventures on the Gorge is a family destination, but be mindful of minimum age requirements and weight requirements for various adventures. We are unable to offer babysitting services during your stay.

Are dogs welcome on property?

We love our four-legged friends here at Adventures on the Gorge, but please have a plan in place if you are going out on adventures. We offer pet-friendly options for each style cabin, so make sure to confirm with your Adventure Specialist that you are in the pet-friendly option and that the pet fee is added to your reservation. We do not have dog-sitting services on site.

Do we have to stay at Adventures on the Gorge to participate in activities?

We will take anyone on adventures with us whether you’re staying here or not! That said, you will need to reserve adventures in advance.
