In a world full of options, Adventures on the Gorge stands apart. We are proud of our legacy as adventure pioneers and carry that pride in everything we do.
Perched on the rim of the New River Gorge and overlooking the nation’s newest national park, Adventures on the Gorge offers unparalleled views of the New River Gorge Bridge from our two restaurants, Smokey’s and Chetty’s. Unique from one another, Smokey’s offers fine dining options and has played host to numerous wedding celebrations over the years. In Chetty’s, you’ll find an upbeat pub scene with bar food favorites, plus excitement and energy as rafting videos set the tone during river season. Enjoy dining on the Sunset Pavilion, where live music is played on select nights during the spring, summer, and fall. Just steps away, you can splash down in our one-of-a-kind pool. Canyon Falls Pool has water features for little ones, plus a snack shack so you can refuel to play more. Here, you can relax and enjoy the view or cool off in the pool during those hot summer days.
Those views we mentioned? Adventures on the Gorge has an incredible location with multiple vantage points of the New River Gorge. With many hiking trails on our property, you can venture over land and take in panoramic views of the New River Gorge National Park, and even get a peek at some of the rapids on the river below. Or, head into the national park, where you can hike Endless Wall or Long Point trails just a short drive away. While you’re exploring the nearby trails, make sure to visit Fayetteville, just across the New River Gorge Bridge from us. This quaint mountain town was once voted the “Coolest Small Town in America.” The charms of Fayetteville include shopping and unique dining experiences, plus a picturesque historic courthouse.
Small towns aren’t typically known for their nightlife, but Adventures on the Gorge hosts live music every Friday and Saturday night during the spring, summer, and fall at Rendezvous River Lodge. This indoor/outdoor music venue was named one of the top live music venues in West Virginia in 2023, and for good reason. Local and regional artists can be found here, with many up and coming acts on the books every weekends. And we don’t charge a cover for music, so you won’t have to worry about having cash for your visit to Rendezvous.
Everything on our campus is located within walking distance. That means you can stay here and check in for your activities, dine in our restaurants, or shop in our stores without ever having to get in your car. And, speaking of staying here, our lodging options include quite the range-with something for everyone. Enjoy all the comforts of home in one of our Cabins on the Gorge, or experience the convenience of a hotel room in our Sunnyside or Kaymoor cabins. We also have rustic options available and tent and RV sites so you can stay your way at AOTG.
We can’t talk about what we’re proud of without mentioning adventure. Our two zipline courses, TreeTops and Gravity, each provide a unique bird’s eye experience for zipliners. TreeTops is an immersive canopy tour, allowing you to get up close to the flora of our region to learn about what makes our forests so special. Gravity is a high flying and thrilling adventure, culminating in one of the longest and fastest ziplines on the east coast. TimberTrek, the largest aerial obstacle course in the area, provides something for almost all ages and difficulty levels. This choose-your-own-adventure style course allows kids as young as 4 explore a course just for them and allows older adventurers to experience more difficult courses located in the trees.
Rafting is what we were founded on, so we saved that for last. As stewards of adventure, we guide river trips in a way that we are proud of. A well-oiled machine, everything from reservations to transportation to river operations to food service works together seamlessly behind the scenes to create the perfect river trip for you. Adventures on the Gorge is located right above the Lower New River takeout, creating a short shuttle back after your river trip. And our location on the north end of the New River Gorge Bridge also creates shorter drive time to and from the Gauley River. That means less time driving and more time enjoying your vacation: win/win.
This year, experience what makes Adventures on the Gorge the premier adventure resort in the New River Gorge.
