Overview

Overnight with Legendary Rapids

  • Two days of rafting
  • Ages 12+
  • Two lunches, one dinner, and one breakfast
  • One night of camping

Experience both the Upper and Lower New River on this overnight trip! This family friendly overnight is perfect for groups, families, and friends with kiddos age 12 and up (it’s also great for adults!). On day one, you’ll raft the Upper New River, where fun and splashy rapids await. This section of the river contains class II-III rapids, with plenty of time to swim and play games. Part way through the trip, you’ll break for lunch on the river’s edge, and enjoy freshly made salads, snacks, and kid friendly favorites. At the end of your day on the water, you’ll camp along the river, and enjoy time by the fire and dinner prepared for you by your guides.

On day two, you’ll take on the Lower New River. This section of the river is known for its iconic landscapes, including house sized boulders, the skyscraping Endless Wall, and the New River Gorge Bridge. The Lower New begins to narrow and drop in elevation here, enabling larger rapids to form. This class III-IV section of the river includes rolling wave trains, technical rapids, and pools in between each with time to swim, jump off Jump Rock, and enjoy the scenery. You’ll end your two-day wilderness experience under the New River Gorge Bridge, where the engineering marvel towers nearly 1,000 feet from your raft at the bottom of the Gorge.

This trip includes two days of rafting, one night of camping, dozens of rapids, and memories to last a lifetime.

FAQ

About the River

Did you know the New River is said to be the second-oldest river in the world? Over millions of years, its white water has carved the New River Gorge and left us with large shelf drops and boulders–a perfect combination of waves and hydraulics that make for world-class rafting. The Lower New River provides adventurous rafting, while the Upper New River is typically more tame.
