Be one of the first guests to explore the heart-pounding whitewater and stunning scenery displayed on The Dries.
In terms of scenery, The Dries is more tight and curvy with towering cliffs right at the water’s edge, than the wide open river upstream. Expect to see more rock around you, and less open sky.
The rapids will vary—a lot—based on the river level. There are several recreational release dates scheduled for the summer, but the water level could easily be lower or higher than planned. We’ll choose the rafts most likely to give you a high-adventure ride. Here’s more about what to expect from various water levels.
This trip includes a complimentary beverages for the trip back to the resort.
Trips run all season long as well as on Scheduled Release Dates for Optimal Water Levels: June 26-27 , July 3-4, 10-11 and 17.

The Dries FAQs
About the New River Dries
Dense boulder gardens and towering cliffs at the water's edge make rapids on the New River Dries technical and continuous. Water levels change dramatically throughout the season, which means we might see channelized boulder dodging, giant waves and holes or anything in between.
Lower New River Rapids Classification
Class I through IV
On class III-IV and harder trips, a guide sits in every raft and provides instruction at each major rapid and throughout the trip. On some trips like the Upper New and Summer Gauley, guests may be in their own inflatable kayaks (duckies). If that is the case, guides will be present to instruct, advise and assist.
Our standard rafts are 16 feet long, comfortably seating 8 guests and a guide. On select river sections, at certain levels, we use smaller rafts which are also available as an upgrade. For the Upper New and The Dries, we use duckies when water level calls for it.
This is a full day trip. You will spend 4-6 hours on the water and enjoy a riverside lunch.
We provide transportation from our resort to the river and back again, all rafting equipment (helmet, life jacket, paddle and boat), riverside lunch and a complimentary beverage.
What to Bring
